“It says to me that I’m not the only one out there who is feeling this discomfort with Taylor Swift lyrics,” Beyer, 21, said in a recent phone interview.
“And then I asked myself, ‘should I maybe look at the lyrics again to make sure that my discomfort matched up with what she was saying? But then that question went away, and Feminist Taylor Swift was born!”
“a lot of the songs are either ‘I used to have a boy and I was happy, and now I don’t and now I’m sad’ or ‘if I had this boy, I would be happy.’ ”
That’s an actual quote. THAT’S AN ACTUAL QUOTE.
I have such burning hatred for the feminist taylor swift twitter.
Taylor Swift is not a feminist. But Clara Beyer is

and a bunch of her tweets are just shoehorning in random facts about women’s rights into songs that aren’t even ~problematic~, they just deal with different issues. non-sequitors do not count as “sharp satire.”
but I’m so glad we have some ivy league undergrads telling a successful artist/businesswoman whose had real control over her career from a young age how wrong she is.
like if we want to talk about satire, the whole thing reads like a takedown of the clichés of women’s studies majors.
